Most of us are familar with the sawgrass prairies, the sloughs of the Everglades where the stars of the show are alligators and airboats. Unfamiliar to most of us though, is a wild and untouched side of the Southwest Florida we call the backcountry. Created by wind, weather and fire, and protected by those who foresaw the need for it's preservation, today offers adventurers some of the best natural world exploration, education and wildlife photography that Florida has to offer.
